Pilling, chipping or cracking paint in older homes can cause any of us to be at a higher rick of lead poisoning from playing in the dirt where chips have fallen to a simple task as cleaning. There are also grant programs in the state of Kansas that will cover the cost of making you home lead safe. You can contact you local health department or the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) for more information and the requirements for the lead safe grant.
